Internship Opportunities
The Globe Leader welcomes applications for its semester and summer internships. These internships are perfect for anyone interested in writing, journalism, and the media. They are also perfect experiences for those who want an up-close-and-personal view of how true community journalism comes together.

This internship program is open to all currently enrolled college students and recent graduates. Students from any major and year are encouraged to apply.

Positions Open for Summer 2007:
- Student Writer
The Student Writer will write about his or her summer life and activities. The purpose of this position is to give Globe Leader readers a first-person, student perspective on the world. Freelance news and feature articles can also be assigned, if there is an interest. The frequency of articles and topics can be customized to the writer's individual needs and interests. This job can be done off-site.

- Website Intern
The Website Intern is a newly created position, one that will play a significant role in expanding and developing The Globe Leader's online website content. The job would entail coordinating with the webmaster, who works remotely, to choose information for the website and prepare it for publication. The web intern can also suggest and help design new layouts and website features.

Basic website knowledge would be required, a familiarity with HTML preferred. All can be learned.

This job can be done off-site, provided that the intern has ready availability to a computer with Internet access and can download the proper software and web publishing programs.

Positions Open for Fall 2007:
- Student Writer

- Website Intern

- Special Program Coordinator
The Special Program Coordinator will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and operating a "letters to Santa" project with teachers in the Wilmington Area Elementary Schools. Previous event-planning and teaching experience is not required, but an interest in education is preferred.

** Possible internship (for both Summer and Fall 2007):
- Copy Edit/Proofread/Layout/General Duties Intern
This intern would perform the duties outlined in its title, assisting the editors as they produce each weekly issue of the newspaper. Unlike the other internships, this position must be completed on-site in The Globe Leader's newsroom.

The Globe Leader has a small full-time staff, so interns will be utilized to the fullest extent possible and will receive significant, hands-on experience. These internships and their requirements are flexible and can be molded to accomodate class and personal schedules.

Interested applicants should send a cover letter and resume to:
